Gratifications

Hey, Scaramouche, will you do the fandango?

Adam Lambert is Brian May’s chosen one to front Queen — so is the American ready to be Freddie full-time?

Filling Freddie Mercury’s shoes must rate as rock’s most daunting situation vacant. Fronting a performance by Queen, to be seen by a TV and internet audience of millions, with only one week’s notice is certainly a challenge few established singers would be willing to accept. Tarnish their memories of Mercury and Queen’s fans will never forgive you; try to outdo the flamboyant front man and you’ll fail.

"Better Than I Know Myself" lyrics

Better Than I Know Myself

Written by: Claude Kelly
Produced by: Dr Luke & Cirkut
Performed by: Adam Lambert

VERSE:
Cold as ice,
And more bitter than a December
Winter night:
That’s how I treated you.

And I know that I –
I sometimes tend to lose my temper,
And I cross the line.
Yeah, that’s the truth.

PRE-CHORUS:
I know it gets hard sometimes,
But I could never
Leave your side
No matter what I say.

"Adam Lambert: The Ultimate Interview", LA Times, August 2009 (Four-Part Interview)

By Fred Bronson for the LA Times

(Terra’s note: Best interview ever. Reading this interview I just wanna give him a hug or something — and not in a creepy way pls people — Quite an inspiring interview, really! Fred Bronson, you’re my favourite music journalist from now on. The RS interview has been pwned!)

Part I: The Early Years

American Idol” runner-up Adam Lambert sat down with writer Fred Bronson for a wide-ranging interview. In Part One, Lambert talks about his early musical influences.

We know from watching “American Idol” that you were raised in San Diego, but where were your parents living when you were born?

Dying from Adam Lambert Portland AI concert videos

My mind has gone to mush. It has been mush for the last 2 hours. *DYING* YouTube and Twitter are both blessings and curses. I can’t even type properly anymore

I don’t know if I’ll post anything else in this space. Maybe later when I’ve recovered.

No wait.

I’ll just post my Portland YouTube playlist here. OMG I’m a genius.

And presenting to you my favorite performance of the fuking night:

Twitter as a form of mass protest

And no I’m not talking about the Iran election.

I’m on vacation today. Woke up early and visited my newest internet guilty pleasure ONTD_Ai because it’s just too fking enjoyable to pass. (Not to mention I’ve been in a bit of a depression the last couple of days and needed an avenue to vent.)

I found myself embroiled in the start of a whole controversy pertaning to homophobia related to a certain “scream on” reality person’s family over a private dinner comprising the cast of our favourite TV show.

Craig Ferguson takes a piss out of Peter Travers on Huge Douchebag Day

Teeehee, I love Craig Ferguson, especially during “huge douchebag day”. And when you have Peter Travers, Rolling Stone with references to the Rolling Stone cover and karaoke singing, I simply have to post this :P :

I had a psychedelic experience where I looked up at the clouds and went, ‘Oh!’… I realized that we all have our own power, and that whatever I wanted to do, I had to make it happen.” — Adam Lambert

Holy Fucking Adam Lambert Rolling Stone CoverPhotograph by Matthew Rolston

Magazine photos and outtakes

Someone tell me why these photos never made it to the actual magazine???? They’re gorgeous! Seriously, this is really old school glam rock stuff. I think the photographer, Matthew Rolston, must have had so much fun with it. (Read what he has to say about the photo shoot) What’s next? Vanity Fair fantasy styled photoshoots?

Rolling updates

ETA 7: Here’s ABC News’ shrine. Check out the videoc clip on the making of the RS photoshoot. Guess who’s behind the snake concept? (Great answer btw!). JMHO, as much as I like the RS interview, I think his personality really shines in face-to-face video/audio ones. I also think he’s a PR dream, handling the toughest questions with aplomb, unlike Gokey who seems to stumble everywhere he goes (“Money, money, money!”).

A Change Is Gonna Come, glitter style

Oh my, I’m at risk of turning this blog into an Adam Lambert fan site aren’t I?

But but… this is too awesome not to blog about…!!!!

Compare it with the American Idol version. How different does this get? (I prefer the singing in AI though, cos it’s just so much more emotional; it really shows how much he’s grown as a singer (I believe he was about 22 or 23 when he did the version above).

Image Gallery: Adam Lambert rocks it out with Queen

I thought this was the most awesome part of the American Idol 8 finale, Adam singing with rock royalty and killing “We are the Champions” with full vibrato even on the high ranges! Brian Harold May and Roger Taylor are da bombs. The competition should have ended at this point because what came after was so unfortunately anticlimatic and disappointing.
