TV shows to watch (am already watching) this year

Since I’m terribly free and am on a list-making impetus, here’s my list of TV shows to catch up on:

1. Remaining four Doctor Who specials for the year: Goodbye David Tennant *sobs*. I hope the newcomer Matt Smith will be competent; I am also curious to know how Steven Moffat intends to lead the 1st Doctor Who of the forthcoming decade.

2. Torchwood season 3 miniseries:I swear the Doctor Who creative team is out to torture us this year. Only five episodes of John Barrowman arrrgh…..

3. Battlestar Galactica (or what’s remaining of it): We have only 2 more episodes to go before the end???

4. Smallville: No Lex, rumoured killing off of two main characters, what else? But since I’ve been watching this series for the last 7 seasons, why not finish the 8th (which has seen much improvement over season 7)?

5. Tytania: I was so hooked on Legend of Galactic Heroes which features my favourite unambitious hero Yang Wen-li. Will Yoshiki Tanaka’s newest space opera to appear on the small screen be as emotionally satisfying? I’ve liked what I’ve seen so far (till episode 10) but truth be told I’m a bit apprehensive about how they are going to end this series considering the novel series is still incomplete.

6. The Gruen Transfer season 2: I absolutely loved this series last year, pity I only managed to watch the 2nd half of it as I didn’t have a TV and the show only began streaming for free online at ABC. Some of the advertising pitches featured knocked my socks off.

TV show that I’ve axed (or at least temporarily): Heroes. My favourite series of the first half of 2007 (until I fell in love with The Good Doctor), fallen into disgrace. Is it beyond redemption? (Someone who is watching the 2nd half of season tell me if this is worth continuing?)
