長い間見ていなかったアニメを一気に見るのはやっぱ素晴らしい！ブリーチアニメのオリジナルストーリー「バウント篇」は結構面白いと思う。今は第87話を見てるところで、漫画に戻るのはまだ約23話の残りになる。楽しみにしてます！

End of the fillers

Naruto’s finally returned from filler hell!! I just watched the one hour special opening (comprising of two episodes because each episode is normally half an hour) of the new series, 疾風伝, which starts off rather nicely with a premonition of what’s to come. I wish the episode weren’t interrupted with so many omakes, but I guess the producers had to extend the episodes to fill up the TV timeslot. 仕方がないな。

Speaking of which, Bleach has also returned to the manga plotline some weeks ago. Now I’ve only watched a couple of them Bleach fillers which aren’t so bad, and I guess I have to watch them eventually to catch up with the new arc because the writers seem to have integrated some elements of the fillers into it. Now I’m wondering if I should bother catching up with the mangas at all.

If this wasn’t so fricking hilarious I would be ranting how extremely dangerous this prank was.

Just the other day me and my colleagues were just talking about the authenticity of Japanese pranks such as the infamous sauna and the toilet pranks. I mean, how do the producers get around without getting sued? But the plethora of ridiculousness has forced me to rethink otherwise. Maybe it is possible after all?

Anyways, methinks me shall end this blog entry before me ends up looking like a complete naive fool. Opinions are sometimes best left unmentioned.

Tales from Earthsea 「ゲド戦記」 Anime Preview

Is it an understatement to say I’m looking forward to this film?

FYI, the American TV movie was such a disaster I couldn’t get past 20mins of it.

I’m of the opinion that most fantasy novel adaptations, especially narrative kinds, should be left to the hands of the Japanese to be animated :-) That is not to say I didn’t love Lord of the Rings — that was an anormaly (plus Gandalf wouldn’t be Gandalf if he wasn’t speaking in English).

Awesome Zep news

Possible future release of Led Zeppelin Fillmore West video? And inclusive of one of the most superb versions of Killing Floor? I have the audio bootlegs for these concerts but video would be heaven’s send. Hopefully the stash also includes As Long as I Have You. That would make me one very contented person. ^_^

Zegapain Episode 11

消されるなこの想い
 忘れる我が痛み

I just finished watching Zegapain episode 11 and bawled my eyes out. T__T

It’s the people relationships in this anime that drive home a point that The Matrix tried but failed to accomplish in its third installment simply because it was overambitious:

人は島ではない
 一人では生きてはいけない

The Matrix 2 involved too much pseudo-philosophy and religious threads, which was great fun in itself, but made it difficult for the Matrix 3 to weave into a proper story. I guess TV animes have the luxury of time to tell a story, and if carefully contructed can become sheer brillance.

Anyway it’s too early to tell how the anime will end. I hope it can keep up to its current momentum and not sink like some anime (read: Ev*ng*l**n) towards the end.

The Yardbirds rediscovered

I’ve been glued to YouTube for the past few days since I registered with it and this is one of the gems I discovered today. A slightly (aged?) Japanese documentary on the Yardbirds. I’m thankful my Japanese is decent enough to understand some of the Japanese commentary but even if I didn’t, the rare footage is a plus. I’ve actually seen some of it before, for instance, the young Jimmy Page playing skiffle on a TV show. Actually, methinks I should dig out my bootleg Led Zeppelin related video (I have a decent amount of these, having been the fanatic) and post it on YouTube when I have the time.

FYI, the person interviewed at the beginning is Georgio Gomelsky (ジョルジオ・ゴメルスキー) who was The Yardbirds’ manager/producer and the owner of the Crawdaddy club.
