I had a Star Wars photo reference for this. Basically did a sketch on a piece of paper, scanned it in and coloured with Photoshop. The hair details and face contours were drawn in with the mouse using the airbrush and paint tools. The picture could have been less blurry if I had given myself more time to complete it but I sort of lost interest after a while. ^_^

The Natalie Portman photograph used for this picture was taken from a scan of a page from Vanity Fair. What I did was to decolourise the photograph, leaving only the background in its original form. Then I smoothened the photograph and recoloured the picture. After that, I used some filters to make the background more painting-like. Finally, with some highlight effects, I blended the two sections merged them to form the picture.
